Patterns of Hate
Mass shooting at Bondi Beach pose uncomfortable questions
I can’t help but shake my head at statements made by Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, in the aftermath of the Hanukkah shooting on Bondi Beach in Sydney, killing at least 15 and injuring 40.
“There is no place for this hate, violence, and terrorism in our nation. Let me be clear, we will eradicate it,” he said.
To which sane people everywhere surely must ask:
“Eradicate hate? How?
Look, the uncomfortable truth is that some Muslims hate Jews and use religion to justify murdering them.
The two gunmen on Bondi Beach were a father and son. Above is the son, Naveed Akram, 24. The father was identified as Sajid Akram.
While the vast bulk of Muslims do not hate Jews, we have multiple examples of radicalized Muslims targeting and killing Jews. Should immigration protocol be adjusted accordingly?
Some will recoil at the idea. But, how else does the government plan to eradicate hate, violence, and terrorism against Jews in Australia — public service ads, urging — what?
Facts must be faced, even when they threaten wishful narratives.
Patterns don’t disappear because we refuse to name them. Let me say it plainly: Should Western countries put Muslims through special, more highly restricted vetting?
That’s all I’m asking.
Brown, Too?
While the horrifying scene shown above in Australia played out on the first day of Hanukkah, a man entered a classroom at Brown University, pulled a gun, and shot two students dead and wounded nine others.
A “person of interest” was put in custody Saturday. This led the public to believe the threat was over. Shockingly, the “person of interest” was released Sunday night. Providence officials are now asking for the public’s help in searching private video in hopes of catching the murderer.
This is a confidence shaker, to say the least.
Early reports had a witness saying the gunman yelled “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire. That’s unconfirmed. Police do say, however, that the gunman “yelled something” before shooting. Given the embarrassing turn of events regarding the person of interest, one must wonder whether police are being politically correct when asked about the “Allahu Akbar” angle.
Brown University has the highest percentage of Jewish Students (25 percent) of all Ivy League Schools. We’re not sayin’, we’re just sayin’.
Let’s see how the news unfolds.

Truth travels with humor
Laugh a little, avoid soreheads, and always question authority

And, thanks to Australia's wonderful gun laws which seem to allow criminals to retain their guns while disarming law abiding citizens, the people on Bondi Beach had no means to defend themselves......
I thought it interesting that the hero who took the rifle away from the older shooter has a Middle Eastern -- probably Muslim -- name. We need more folks like him.
