Oh, Marin County
How the rich woke love their illegal immigrant underclass
Members of a “working group” in wealthy Marin County devise ways to keep Marin’s illegal immigrants a permanent underclass. So far, they are doing an excellent job.
Uber Woke Always Amaze
Here’s the latest headline from the little county of Marin, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, home of the Grateful Dead, Gov. Gavin Newsom and a tribe of rich, white left-wingers too woke for themselves.
Marin Supervisors
Allocate Resources
to Support Immigrant Communities
That’s the headline from a press release from the county. It goes on to say that “with immigrant rights at the forefront of conversations nationwide” the county will spend half a million bucks of taxpayer money “toward safeguarding immigrant communities.”
I’m not sure what “immigrant rights” means, exactly. But I’m sure the county isn’t spending a dime on people who migrated to Marin County legally. They are spending this money only on the “rights” of immigrants who have snuck into Marin illegally. They characterize their “spending” as a compassionate investment.
Look, I have no problem with Marin County spinning this to make it look more palatable. But it’s still bullshit. The closer you get to what’s going on, the stronger it stinks.
Marin County’s rhetoric cloaks an elitist, ugly spirit. Hear what the head of the county Board of Supervisors, Mary Sackett, has to say:
“As a County, we have a responsibility to ensure that every resident, regardless of immigration status, feels safe, supported, and valued.”
If Ms. Sackett “supports and values” illegal immigration, she should be ashamed. And if one penny of that $500k is “invested” to teach illegals how to stay hidden from accountability, then double the shame.
I’d be far more impressed with county leadership if they acknowledged the folly of fostering a permanent illegal immigrant “community” and instead helped these folks get right with the law.
Encouraging them, as they do, to live in the shadows seems cruel as it creates a permanent underclass, one that gets Marin’s yards landscaped and the mansions cleaned, but nothing more.
It’s the opposite of compassion.
