How Democrats totally misread the room

As crazy 2024 winds down, one truth becomes more obvious: The American political party in power horribly misread the room.

First, they banked on a frail Joe Biden until they couldn’t. Second, they failed to pick up on the changing cultural vibe rejecting their agenda of woke policies on issues like transsexual rights, criminal justice reform and open immigration.

Look, when the state thinks parental rights take a back seat to the whims of a minor child’s desire to surgically change sex, you know you’ve gone too far.

When “reform” of the criminal justice system throws the baby out with the bathwater — allowing more crime, not less — people will flee.

And, when you are more concerned about using the term “illegal” than in stopping terrorists and gang members from flooding into communities, is it any wonder the electorate growls with mistrust?

Yet, still there are those who cry out “why, oh why” isn’t Kamala Harris crushing it in the polls?

Because people want their streets safe and secure. They don’t want their first-grade children coming home asking about the teacher’s aide who talks to them about gender disorientation.

I understand the predicament Democrats were in.

After the political assassination of Joe Biden, the political elite were left with the worst possible choice to carry-on. Kamala Harris may have perfectly lined up with the woke thinking of 2020. But she had to be re-made to fit the bill in 2024. That’s why her campaign spends so much time trying to erase her former self, which, lest we forget, is the classic San Francisco liberal.

For example, 24 months ago Kamala made fun of the idea of a border wall. She called it “stupid.” On CNN yesterday she said she’s all for it because all “good ideas” should be implemented. The CNN host wasn’t buying the transformation and the people aren’t either.

This version of Kamala Harris isn’t real.

Meanwhile, for better or worse, Donald Trump’s still Donald Trump. Same guy now as when he hit the scene in 2016. Same guy who presided over economic prosperity without arresting political rivals or watering down the First Amendment by clamping down on “misinformation.” You don’t have to fall in love with Trump to know, at the very least, he is authentic. And, he has a good track record.

By comparison, Trump resonates with voters. That’s the take-a-way.

For examples of this, take a look at a couple of the items in “Sniffin’ Da Web” segment below. That kind of thinking is going on all over the country right now. Believe me, those long lines at early voting are not just Democrats anymore.

BLM Where Art Thou?

Carrying on with the “misreading the room” theme today, allow me to point you to a Free Press article entitled “BLM Collected Over $90 Million in Donations. Where Did It Go?”
